Project 3 : Digital Triptych

Brief · Digital Triptych - Exploring Scott McCloud's Transitions

This assignment aims to utilize Scott McCloud's theory on transitions, as outlined in 'Understanding Comics', to create a digital triptych.
The triptych consists of three panels:
  1. Before the significant moment
  2. During the climactic turning point
  3. Aftermath
Each panels is required to represent a different transition type from McCloud's theory, which the specified transition types are Moment-to-moment, Action-to-action, Subject-to-Subject, Scene-to-scene, and Aspect-to-aspect. We have to select one transition type for each panel, ensuring that the chosen transitions align with the narrative elements of the story.

In this project, we can use any digital medium, such as illustration software or graphic design tools to create the panels. The submission should demonstrate clarity and coherence in visual storytelling, ensuring that each panel distinctly represents its respective transition type.

Mood Board / Reference ·

I use a comic strip story that I really like, called 'To Your Eternity'. The comic begins with a story about a unknown creature that came to Earth from outside the universe. It first turned into a stone, then into a wolf, and became friends with the a boy who live in Arctic. The boy failed to withstand the extreme cold after lost his family, and then he die. Later, the 'creature' transforms into the boy and uses his body to survive.
