STOP MOTION ANIMATION
Pre-proposal |
Share 3 of your favourite Stop Motions rationales.
Using paper cutting as a medium allows the character's movements to flow freely. The details are well-crafted, the plot is fascinating, and the music perfectly establishes the tone. The horror theme is also compelling.
The production medium is extremely rich, necessitating a large amount of time and work. I really like the film's general color tone, which captures the ambiance and feel of the cartoons I watched as a child. The art style is reminiscent to Pixar. The transitions between motions are flawless, and the narration is complete, successfully expressing the topic of death.
This is a common stop-motion animation technique that uses hands to animate "hand-drawn" parts. I frequently see this animation style in YouTube videos. Unlike the other two animations, this one is more interactive and wacky. The color scheme is primarily black and white.
Preferred medium for final project:
Clay, paper, or hand-drawn (paper and hands).

Paper Cut Preparation |
We decided to utilize Procreate to design out all of the necessary paper cuts and then print them. This strategy saves money on colored pencils while also ensuring color uniformity. To achieve the correct printed colors, I set the color file to CMYK mode.

Shooting |
After we finished preparing the items, we set up our shooting "studio." We had adequate lighting from a desk lamp and natural sunlight. However, the printed color ink on the manila card reflected light, obscuring some scenes. We tried to avoid light occlusion by altering the location of the paper. We shot with a smartphone software called "Stop Motion," which allows us to edit each frame and has a powerful onion skinning capability that refers to prior frames for smoother animation. We captured 571 frames for this 1:03-minute animation.

Production |
After exporting the material as a video, we conducted some basic frame modifications to guarantee that the film was approximately one minute long. We then tweaked the hue and filter to obtain clear and bright pictures. Later, we included background music and ambient sound effects. We chose background music from the Cooking Mama OST to complement our relaxed dessert-making film.

Week 12 - Proposal
Feedback:
Mr. Martin said he liked our animation story, especially the final part where the girl gives a gift to the boy and the boy gives a bigger one in return. It is a warm and cute scene.

| Experience |
In this assignment, I worked really well with my partner Yan. We quickly decided on the subject we wanted to shoot and stayed on the same page. We had good communication, which allowed us to divide our tasks efficiently and on schedule.
| Observation |
The paper cutouts were difficult to put in place, so we used clay and glue to temporarily stamp them on the background board. The most intriguing element of post-production was adding ambient sound effects (such as friction, collision, and item placement sounds). Seeing the final result with these effects was quite fulfilling.
| Findings |
Good communication with a partner is crucial when working in teams.
